CALVIN KLEIN SS15 INSTA

Our collaboration with Calvin Klein for their SS15 fashion show was a challenging yet rewarding experience. Matt worked with editor Nuno Xico (nxico.com) to create Instagram videos for launch less than 24-hours after the show. Inspired by the collection’s minimalism and textures, Matt poised the models in a sterile environment and presented them as robotic mannequins.

H&M HEARTWOODS

As part of the H&M Life series, Matt directed a short featuring Megan Offner and her work at NY Heartwoods. Megan salvages downed and dying trees that would otherwise go to waste and finds them new homes. After a few inspiring days filming her in upstate NY, we knew we had a special story to tell. That’s why we turned to Gloss to put final color touches on the piece once we locked the edit.

THEORY+ ACTIVEWEAR LAUNCH

After working on their summer campaign, Theory came to Baron Films with their new activewear line Theory +. Matt worked to create interactive material for the line’s launch. Along with directing a film, he created Instagram videos, GIFs, and stills. While dancers Loic Mabanza and Lida Fox elevated the simple concept with their incredible talent, stylist Karen Kaiser and makeup-artist Moiz Allandina created their memorable looks. This project exhibits the various kinds of interactive visual material we love creating.

H&M LIFE: SPORTS STUDIO: JUNEBUG

When H&M approached Baron Films to create a video for their 'Sports Studio' series, Matt spent a weekend in Venice Beach filming with Junebug, a young boxing prodigy working his way to Rio for the Olympics in 2016. This shoot was a fantastic opportunity to create a very high energy piece, one driven by Junebug's intense workout and training regime. Matt collaborated with composer Adam Crystal (Paperdrum) and colorist Tim Masick (Company3) to create an epic two minute short that is one of the most exciting projects we’ve worked on to date.

More clients such as Nike and Armani Exchange are tasking Baron Films for Instagram work. While shooting for the Armani Exchange SS14 Campaign, we filmed additional Instagram spots motivated by the platform’s square format and 15 second video length. MADONNA’S SECRETPROJECTREVOLUTION

After directing and editing the mini documentary MDNA: Tour Workshop, Baron Films director Matt Baron was asked to collaborate with Madonna and Steven Klein on her passion project SecretProjectRevolution.

Matt and long-time Baron Films collaborator Nuno Xico (www.nxico.com) spent two months editing with Madonna in her home to create the heavily anticipated 17-minute short film. The project is part of the “Art For Freedom Initiative” which encourages creative expression in order to bring awareness to human rights violations across the globe.

The film was projected along streets around the world in cities such as Palestine, London, Paris, Rome, and Berlin. We were inspired to work with Madonna and Steven for this cause. You can read more about the initiative at www.artforfreedom.com

EXPLORING NEW VISUAL PLATFORMS:
INSTAGRAM & VINE WORK

As brands recognize the ever-growing importance of social media, Baron Films has evolved to create strong visual content for their clients across multiple platforms. After a long collaboration with Calvin Klein on their campaign films, we were approached by the brand to create engaging videos for their new Vine account. Our Vines of underwear model Matt Terry, which aired during the Super Bowl XLVII power outage, caused quite a stir. The New York Daily News, Huffington Post, Business Insider, and Examiner all reported the success of the videos and praised Calvin Klein for jumping on Vine so quickly. Two weeks later, Calvin Klein was named the “#1 Vine of Fashion Week” for the Spring/Summer NYFW by New York Magazine. 

After their Vine’s success, we were asked to contribute to the brand’s Instagram account. We now provide Calvin Klein with photos and videos during Fashion Week, campaign shoots, and other events.  We also developed a recurring series for “Throwback Thursday”, presenting pictures from their vast archive in a new way. Since Instagram is a visually driven platform, we strive to engage our clients’ audience by supplying elevated images and content that are true to the brand’s aesthetic. We are constantly looking to explore new mediums with a creative eye and aim to work with more clients in creating dynamic content over various platforms.

GANT WEDDING SS14

The GANT SS14 video is out! This is our second collaboration with GANT run by the agency Baron & Baron. With Mikael Jansson doing the still photography, Matt Baron and Alex Seiler worked with camcorders to capture an intimate wedding experience. Will Town did a fantastic job of editing the film together to enhance the authenticity and charming quality of the video.

We were thrilled to work with Indie-Pop band CON VOS on their music video “Central Park”. With a limited budget, this was truly a passion project. We love to experiment with different mediums, and combined a modern camera with classic Super 8mm for this piece. The song evokes summer romance, so we worked to get across such nostalgia by going to locations that provoke joyful memories. We love collaborating with artists and are always looking to do more music video work.
